He knows the tech stuff must be a huge ask to get her to follow. He knows from experience, the people born in the world he woke up to, long after civilisation was over. They had no technology, computers, cars, electricity, all of it. It's strange to him to be here in a place where it's so obvious that tech exists, just under the floor where they can't get to it. Something happened here. He's just not sure what yet.
And Randvi even being here -- any of them being here -- it's wild to think about. But she might be farthest out of her element of anyone he's talked to.
He raises an eyebrow at her analogy.
"Sure, like a dwarf in the sun." He's not really familiar with her mythology, but why not? If it gets her to some basic understanding, fine. He's more surprised that she seems to have gone along with what he said. It sounds like crazy talk, he figures, but he can't do anything about it. He's not a liar and he knows that. Other people can think what they want.
"I counted the seconds," he says in answer to her question. "I had to stay conscious somehow, so I just counted. 117,354,893,870 seconds passed before I finally revived. There's a scientific explanation as to how and why I did, but I won't bore you with it. It has to do with nitric acid reacting to the petrified state. That's oversimplifying, but it's fine." He waves a hand. "That was...a few years ago. Recently we figured out some of the answers to the petrification, but not all of them. My goal is to revive everyone on the planet. I'll go back to doing that as soon as we get outta this place."
