It's a great day to visit the beach. It hasn't quite reached noon yet, so the sun's rays kiss your face without burning it and leave the sand under your fingers warm, but not uncomfortable. There isn't a cloud in the sky overhead. You hear the sound of waves lapping against the shore somewhere nearby, the gentle rustling of leaves. Your feet feel a bit wet. Actually, all of you feels kind of wet. Did you take a dip in the ocean recently? How long have you been here? Where is here, exactly? You're startled out of your growing confusion by a sharp crackle of static from the handheld transceiver laying in the sand next to your ear, as others just like you awaken, alone, on other parts of the beach. Glencola Reef is a panfandom exploration/adventure game with themes of mystery and puzzle-solving, survival, isolation, and sometimes existential alien horrors beyond comprehension. Characters arrive somewhere on the beach of an idyllic tropical island, powerless, with only the clothes on their back, whatever happens to be in their pockets, and a military-grade walkie-talkie. Gameplay relies heavily on search and exploration of the island map, with events that encourage problem-solving through use of scavenged materials and the building of defenses and settlements to combat both natural and unnatural forces. You might not remember how you got here, or why, but that doesn't necessarily mean that you're stuck. Surely the answers are there, at your fingertips or underfoot - if you just look close enough. | ||||
