WHAT: Cabin fever, but inside a jail. The above get stuck after seeking shelter from the storm.

Fine, they can talk about it later.

“Oh, I should have asked! Where are you from? Do you have… I don't know, a family?”

"Of a sort," he admits. He doesn't have family the way that humans think of it, but he does have those he might consider kin.

"What do you know of the stars?"

[desperate_times_right]

Chloe chuckles. “Kinda broad question… big burning gas balls in space, I guess? The ones here suggest we're in the southern hemisphere?”

"Space?" he asks curiously. That's more than the humans of his world knew.

"Is that what you call the realms beyond the sky?"

[desperate_times_right]

“Yeah. Outer space, I guess, because it's outside the Earth.”

Regular cats definitely don't know about this, but this isn't a regular cat.

It's as good a term as any, he supposes. His humans hadn't even thought about it, to his knowledge.

"That is where I am from."

[desperate_times_right]

“What? You're from the moon?”

No stranger than anything else, maybe.

He tilts his head, confused by this conclusion.

"Outer space," he explains.

[desperate_times_right]

Chloe raises an eyebrow. “The part with no air? And all that radiation and shit?”

He's not sure he understands most of that sentence, but the 'no air' part is clear enough. He nods.

“How do you survive, then?” It’s not that she doesn't believe him, but: sounds fake.

"How do the stars survive?"

[desperate_times_right]

“They burn until they get unstable and explode. I don't think you do that.”

[absentconstellation]

"Certainly not," he agrees, stretching out once again as if his explanation is entirely mundane.

"My stars are quite stable."

[desperate_times_right]

“Your stars? What, you like, float around in a star system?”

[absentconstellation]

"In several," he corrects her. "I am a constellation. The space between them is far more vast than you know."

“…There’s a cat constellation?”

Chloe doesn't know nearly as much about this as she should, apparently.

He stares flatly at her. Obviously there's a cat constellation. He's right in front of you.

“Well, I don't know!” Chloe’s never met a constellation before. Probably. “Why aren't you stars?”

[absentconstellation]

"I am," is his simple answer.

[desperate_times_right]

“You seem a little small, dude. No offence.” Also not on fire.

[absentconstellation]

"You are only human," he says, somewhat pityingly. "It stands to reason that you cannot comprehend such matters."

[desperate_times_right]

Sounds like a line to Chloe. Maybe he doesn't know either. “So… like the seven sages could just come down here and hang out?”

[absentconstellation]

"They have no interest in the affairs of mortals. Such things bore them." The Cat is rather unusual in that sense. It's no surprise though, since cats have always been nosey and curious.

“Oh, okay. I guess since they're old guys they can't backflip if they get bored.” Unlike a certain shirt-hating feline.
