A question for later. Probably right now the magnet is the most valuable part of it. With the needle they could make a compass.
The answer to the next question is so embarrassing and she should probably lie, but: “I've got these nerd friends - you know D and F Fortunes? History Channel archaeology shit. They're filming a dive in the same area and I promised I’d help out with their kid until they're done.”

Taissa dangles the toy's skin in front of Chloe's face playfully. "Should I be worried for this kid?"

“She’s a baby,” Chloe laughs. “She won't know the difference. Maybe if it's still worth something it can go to her college fund.”

“Totally different skill sets, though. As long as you know how to do the stuff babies need, you can interact with any baby. Older kids it actually matters what you say.”
Nate and Elena have a big list of things she's not supposed to talk about with Cassie but it's not like she’ll actually remember any of this anyway.

K probably wouldn't go for it, sadly.

She hates this. But how much longer can she handle this alone? Between running on as little sleep as possible and reality itself beginning to no longer conform to what she thought it was, her sanity is probably hanging on a thread.
With a heavy sigh she finally lets out, "I sleepwalk. Not-- all the time, and not in a long while until recently. I think it might be exacerbated by stress."
Yes, she definitely hates this. The forced vulnerability. Admitting to someone else AND herself that she might not have absolutely everything under control. Ugh.

“Okay. Well, I checked the cell doors already -” she had considered locking Squalo in the puke cell but never mind that now - “and they're electronic lock only, so that's no good since we don't have power. I don't think I can block you in like we did at the old camp unless I sleep on top of you, and if you might throw me across the room, then no thanks.”
Her leg is finally starting to heal, the last thing she needs to do is fuck it up again.
“If we put something across the door, would it wake you up? Like an alarm.”

"I had an old girlfriend who used to have to tie me up." She has to smirk in spite of everything. "I think if you were on top of me I might just want to stay awake."

K would probably be chill and Sam’s a cat, but Squalo would absolutely be Not Chill.
“I did find a rope earlier if that's the route you want to take, but K has a towel that he let me use earlier. He’d probably let me take it if I tell him I want an alarm ʼcause Squalo’s got me freaked out. Tear it into strips and tie some of the trinkets I found to it and it’d make some noise.”

"Do you really think K will buy the excuse? The alarm sounds like a good idea if the cat will leave it alone." If she wakes up from the only sleep she can get with the cat using the thing as a new toy, she might lose it. She adds, with an increased seriousness, "I don't want anyone other than you knowing about this if I can help it."

“Well, in case you didn't notice he did threaten to hit me a bunch of times. I don't think K will ask questions if he thinks it'll get him some peace.”
