“Military lady admonishing everyone for using names but then that guy hogging the channel to talk about fursonas or whatever. And I thought I was spying on dumb ass radio chatter back in Malaysia, shit.”

Chloe’s pretty sure she could kill most of these clowns if it comes down to it.

"...furwhat?" He likes to think himself quite in tune with the current affairs of the world, and he's probably aware of furries as a concept to an extent, but internet slang may be a little beyond him.

“I don't know, internet shit. Ask Heart or whoever.” They hadn't exactly presented it accurately in that conversation, either.

Maybe he will, though it's not exactly a matter of pressing importance.

"Either way: dumb shit. Gotcha."

“Yeah, first thing I heard on there after waking up on the beach. I didn't pay attention to it after that until I heard Taissa.”

And she's glad for that now for a host of reasons. What would have happened to her if she’d been in that camp by herself?

"Yeah? How cute," he says, grinning. "So you decided her life was too easy from just her voice or what?"

Chloe rolls her eyes. “Fuck you, man.”

It's not like she’d planned for all of this to happen.

Walked right into this one, Chloe.

At least he seems slightly calmer now, so if she wants to slip away into the bushes for some relative privacy she could probably do so.

“I think you're doing it enough for all of us.”

And yes, now that she's mostly certain he isn't going to stab her in the back, Chloe is taking the opportunity to walk away.

He does let her go with that quip -- at least for a while; if he thinks she's taking too long he might decide to try to follow her -- only to get nearly brained by a stray tire, after which he will decide to stay the fuck under the roof instead.
