There is a lot going on at the airfield, with post-storm cleanup still ongoing and now crab-related destruction to repair. Exploration teams are coming and going, and there is often sparring or weapons training going on in the central square.

Does a real leader need to be announced? People will follow the lead of the person best suited for the job regardless of what anyone says, eager to hand off all responsibility to whoever exudes the most authority.

[For a moment, Dirk remembers all his assertions from before the game about leadership and how he would be the one really pulling the strings behind the scenes, etc etc. It's frankly embarrassing to think about now given how shit went. The corner of his mouth twitches slightly – an open grimace by Dirk standards – and he takes it out on a crab with a particularly pointed stab, before turning back to unload his stickful of shellfish corpses. He's got one of the tarps from the supply pile spread on on a clear section of the ground and he leans the end of his stick on it, planting a foot on the topmost speared crab and sliding the lot of them off into a tidy pile.]

[ For a moment she's torn between annoyance and fond amusement at his very serious response to a line of mostly-joking questioning. She finds herself smiling wryly at the memory of poking Tim's cheek whenever he started to sound like an essay instead of a person. Luckily she isn't looking directly at Dirk when she notices, and she's able to school her expression into something a little less... affectionate. ]
