“Oh yeah. Guess you can't really use it anyway, huh? Well, if I hear about anyone finding it I'll let ʼem know to bring it to us.”

Somehow she can't imagine 'oh yeah it's the cat’s' would go great but she’ll figure it out.

He gives a little mwwrt of amusement, then nods. This is acceptable. Not too high a priority, but something to be kept in mind.

“So… is it weird to scratch your ears and carry you around and all that? Or do you like cat stuff?”

Seems kind of weird to do that stuff if he's a regular guy.

He scoffs again and walks up to rub against Chloe's arm. He's careful this time not to push too hard. If he didn't like it, he most certainly would not have allowed it. Hasn't she ever met a cat before?

Chloe laughs and scratches the cat’s ears again. Come to think of it, he’d seemed to like that a lot back in the old camp.

“Wish I could ask you what you were yelling about back when we met you.”

He begins to quietly purr as she scratches his ears, tilting his head so she can reach better. Then he looks up at her expectantly, waiting for her to simply ask the question. Really, human, there's nothing stopping you.

It's kind of nice, sitting there with a purring cat. Outside of feral colonies in ruins Chloe hasn't spent a lot of time around cats, so this one would have been constantly surprising her either way.

When he looks up at her as if waiting for something, she stops scratching him for now.

“Okay, fine. Why were you yelling?”

Is he looking for another yowling opportunity?

"I am not as I should be," he answers with all the dignity of such a noble creature. He keeps his voice down enough that it might not be heard clearly by anyone else in the bunker.

Chloe stares at this little guy - who has been fucking kick flipping off the walls by the way! - and every thought seems to leave her head at once.

“But you said you're a cat!”

The look he gives her is unimpressed, but as a cat, it may be difficult to discern that from any normal expression.

"I am a cat."

“What should you be, then?”

Did he get turned into a cat? She might scream about that too.

"I should be a cat, naturally." Honestly. Usually the humans he chooses to accompany don't get so histerical, but he supposes that circumstances are trying for all of them at the moment.

"I am not able to see, smell or hear as I should." As she can no doubt imagine, it's not a pleasant feeling.

Oh. Now that she thinks about it, he did yowl after trying to sniff Taissa.

“Weird. I don't notice anything different. Is that also why you hit so hard?”

He hadn't seemed used to it.

He nods.

"As I said, I am not as I should be."

“Huh.” What would do that to a cat?

“Well, you saved my life anyway, so I think you're doing pretty well on diminished performance.”

The better question is, what is capable of doing that to a constellation? Only Father Universe and Mother Flame should have any true power over him.

Regardless, the praise makes him smug. He gives a quiet "hmph" and stretches as though such statements are only natural for one such as himself.

Chloe runs a hand along the cat's back from his neck to the base of his tail.

“I named you after my friend. Is that really okay?”

He arches his back to meet her hand, maximizing the contact of the petting.

"You may call me whatever you wish. I have no name that humans can use."

“Well, okay. You're stuck as Sam now.” Chloe snorts. “Maybe we could find you a little Hawaiian shirt.”

He could ask what that means, but it doesn't really matter. He won't stand for such an indignity regardless.

"You most certainly may not."

[desperate_times_right]

“Oh come on! It would be so cute.” Way cuter than human Sam because he won't sweat all over it.

"If you attempt it, I will tear it to shreds," he says matter-of-factly. He probably won't be too careful with his claws when he does it, either.

He probably won't go for the douchey singlet either, then.

“Sunglasses?”

What is that- Nevermind.

"I am not a doll."

“Oh, absolutely not, but you're a guy! Every guy deserves a cute outfit.”
