Night 25-???

He wasn't all that much of a stranger to long walks, but it had been awhile since he'd walked through an entire day. He got a few hours of sleep in a bungalow, but he still looks exhausted by the time he arrives.
The dream he had--or didn't have, rather, kinda shook him up. No tower, no blue-faced winged jester telling him to kill people. He hadn't dreamed at all. So that must have meant the Festival was over, but what that meant eluded him. Was this a further trick of Per'kele and Rher? Or this was whatever was in that bunker, which he had even less of an idea about. There was a lot to think about, but for now he's just tired and very hungry. And psyching himself up to talk to whoever is here.

Day 26 morning

Randvi stayed up way too late last night - indulging in a type of alcohol she's not accustomed to, Levi might have heard her giggling from the other side of the office door if he slept in the hangar - to be having fun this morning. She's squinting against the sun, her braid hangs limp and a bit dishevelled, and she nearly walks right through their new arrival she's so distracted.

“Oh… hello…”

Wait, this isn't someone she knows.

“Did you just arrive?”

Levi has still not really slept, having rested against a wall for a few hours only to be woken by nightmares. The rest of the time he's spent looking around the village, attempting to be stealthy since someone advised paranoia. When he runs into Randvi he's only woken up about an hour ago and still looks exhausted. He'd gone back to looking around, minus the stealth. He's too tired to care and everything seemed fine last night.

He jerks away from her as she moves past. "Ah...y-yeah."
She sounds maybe familiar, but he's not sure. Not from those few words at least.

At the sound of his voice she blinks at him in surprise: most here are strangers to him but there are only a few that she doesn't know.

“Are you Levi? Have you been walking all night?”

"...yeah. Well, not all night." Just most of it, and the day before.

She nods, surprised. He seems younger in person than she had expected.

“My name is Randvi. We spoke over the radio. I have been verifying the identity of everyone who arrives at the village, can you send me a message?”

[solitarysoul]

The official-sounding tone he had over the radio is completely gone. Now Levi sounds not at all sure of himself. "...uh. Um, okay."

It takes him a moment to figure out how to do that, but eventually he sends Randvi a message. In audio, so she can now hear it from two places if she wants. "Is this good?"

“Yes, thank you. Particularly with people who have said publicly that they're coming here, I like to check that the call signs are the same.”

Randvi wants to rub her eyes so badly, but she's trying to look like the woman in charge so she resists.

“I'm glad that you were able to travel here safely. You are not required to stay here, but there are stores of food, water, and other supplies that you can access if you need them, and there is a place to sleep inside the longhouse nearest the tower. Did you have any questions for us?”

He has many questions, but he's not sure they'll know any of the answers. Right now, though, his stomach chooses the first thing to ask. He's not sure the last time he ate.

"I..if its not too much trouble, could I get something to eat?"

Night 25

Poking around at night is pretty standard for Kokichi. It's an opportunity to investigate things seriously without worrying about who's around to see, without the need to maintain a certain persona. And frequent insomnia comes hand in hand with being a paranoid survivalist on Hellmurder Island, so here he is.

And here's someone else wandering into camp. Hmm.

Kokichi watches quietly for a minute or so first, tucked away in a shadow around the side of a hangar. It's only when he decides the guy doesn't appear actively malicious that he leans out around the side of the building, plastering on a grin.

"Woah, is someone really sneaking in in the middle of the night?! That's so shady..." He's deliberately too loud for the hour. He doesn't trust strangers as a rule, after all, and others waking up and coming to investigate would only make things safer.

Levi freezes at the voice. He hadn't really expected anyone to be awake so his attempts at stealth were mostly being quiet instead of out of sight. Maybe he can claim he didn't want to wake anyone up? That was partially true anyway.

He turns towards the voice's source, "N-no. I'm not...I-I just got here."

Night 27

It's halfway into the night, or perhaps already the wee hours of pre-dawn, when Levi finally makes it back into the airfield. He's still in his uniform, loose green cloak obscuring most of his body, and he's got a beach-towel-turned-rucksack on his back. One of his arms has a piece of another towel tied around it like a bandage.

He's headed for the hangars when he spots a lone figure wandering about the outskirts -- he would expect somebody to be keeping watch, but he doesn't recognize them at all. Could be a new person, or it could be an intruder, so either way, he walks toward then in determined step.

"Looking for a place to take a shit?" Well, talk about icebreakers.

No one every really asked him to do patrols, but was something he fell into naturally. Sitting still when things were calm often left him restless, his mind going back to all the problems he could have expected on the front. Was there an enemy just out of sight, waiting for their chance to strike? No...he knows there isn't, if he thinks about it, but there were still animals. They probably wouldn't stray into camp en mass either, but it made him feel better to check. And to learn just where everything was.

So he's up walking, groggily trying to shake the nightmares from his head, when Levi finds him. He stops and looks at the man when he speaks. "Uh...n-no...I was just looking around."

That voice was familiar...

That voice is familiar too -- and more so the tone, the uncertainty prevalent in it, but Levi isn't going to jump to assumptions without confirmation.

"Are you on watch?" It's easier to just jump into business-like conversation than search for proper introduction options or whatever. "I haven't seen you around here before."

Which, he supposes, the teen hasn't seen him around either, but he rarely feels the need to explain himself so he's not going to start without being explicitly prompted to one way or another.

His tone is much more uncertain in person. The radios he could treat as some sort of official business, at least at the time, but in person any confidence it had is gone. He's much meeker without the under tone of serious business, but his military background is still there. More in the way he moved and carried himself than in his voice, but it was obvious to anyone who was paying attention and knew what to look for.

"...not officially. I couldn't sleep. And, um, I-I'm new here."

The voice...was it the same as the one who helped him on the radios? The one who kept their conversation private. What was that guys name? Did he ever get it? Would he sounds stupid if he asked now? Or if he was wrong...maybe this guy would say something about it if Levi didn't.

Contrary to how he may appear, Levi is quite good at reading people or sussing out facts like occupation from body language (he's just not good with people, which is different). So, yeah, after observing the brat for a few more moments he figures he must have some military experience.

"You're the brat who was on the radios three days ago, right? Asking about the village?"

Well, it looks like he made it here and hasn't murdered everybody (probably, he'll hold that thought until he sees somebody else). That's a relief.

Ah, good, suspicion confirmed and he didn't need to make a fool out of himself.

"Yes Sir. Thank you for your help."

"Don't mention it," Levi says, apparently not thinking that he provided much help at all.

Then there's an awkward silence.

And then he reaches into his backpack, retrieves a wholeass pineapple and holds it out for Levi, clearly expecting him to take it.

He looks between the pineapple and the other man, confused. Was there a meaning to this or was it just a gift? Nevermind why he'd be getting a gift in the first place.

After a moment's hesitaion he takes the pineapple. While watching carefully for Levi's reaction. Because wtf.

Day 25!!!!

Surprise! Whether he's psyched up or not, Steph pops up from nowhere in particular, blinks, then smiles brightly.

"Hi! Are you new? I'm Steph."

[solitarysoul]

He nearly jumps when she pops up, hand reflexively going for the knife in his pocket before he stops it. She was clearly friendly, not an enemy.

"I, um..y-yeah. Hi?"

Her eyes follow that hand like a hawk, though nothing else about her demeanor changes. They linger on the pocket for a moment before moving back to his face, her smile not faltering for a moment.

"Sorry, didn't mean to startle you. I didn't realize there was someone over here. Everyone kinda uses this place as a base, but it seems like they're always out on one mission or another."

Levi stalwartly avoids eye contact, so he doesn't notice Steph eyeing his pocket. "Oh...I'm, ah, I'm new here. I was just looking around."

"Cool," is her response as she just pretends that he is making appropriate eye contact. That approach always worked well with Cass.

"Can I help you find anything? I was just checking that nothing weird has shown up around the outside of the airfield. You know, no signs that a village of angry naturalists are preparing for an invasion, elephants falling out the sky, that kind of thing."

"Nothing in particular..." Still just getting his barrings, really. "A-are those real threats?"

[ichoosefight]

"...Probably not?" That's definitely more of a question than an answer.

"The elephant thing only happened once, and everything else that fell out of the sky that time was smaller. And I think if the villagers were planning on attacking they'd have made a move by now, so unless someone does something tremendously stupid we should be safe on that end."

So really, the answer is yes, those are real threats.
